Unreliable Or Closed Micro Job Sites

Below are the collected reviews of posts I’ve made about micro job sites that have been reported to have log in issues, script errors, or other problems. Some I have experience with myself, others were reported by trusted micro jobbers.

Fiversworld (now operating as ZJobs.com)

I am trying to add a gig to www.fiversworld.com and today is 1/25/2013 and it is noon, MST.

I received a half dozen messages via in boxes on other micro job sites, all asking me to join this community. First off, I consider this to be a low class form of promotion, basically nothing but spam. I assume this choice in marketing was adopted because the site owner is unable financially to do a proper promotion, not able to figure out how to earn organic search engine traffic, or just a noob making the same mistakes most newbies make. No matter what the reason, none make me feel confident in this micro job site’s capabilities. I’ll never purchase anything from or through a business that uses spam as a means of promotion, but I’ll always try out a potential new revenue source with a small test.

I signed up, and tried to create a gig. However, once the application was filled out and I hit the submit button, nothing happened. All that I saw for 20 minutes was a notice the script was saving, and the little circling arrow continued to rotate.

I imagine this issue will be fixed if Seifelden Electronics, the registered owner of the domain, even knows there is a problem with the site. Regardless, a problem of any kind is a red flag so I have no intention in doing anything more with FiversWorld for the time being. Maybe in six months, if the site is still live and I see some micro jobbers I know and trust working with them, I’ll attempt to add a gig or two of my own.

Obviously I do not recommend Fiver World to anyone else, but as always I welcome updates from readers as to problems rectified or issues explained. Just post a comment below.

Note: Fiversworld is now operating as ZJobs.com which I have never heard of before. I will be signing up to see how it goes. If there is cause for concern you can bet it will be detailed on this blog. But to be fair,  ZJobs.com may have bought the defunct FiversWorld.com domain as easily as it could be a resurrection of a flawed script.

JobsFor10.com

This was a great micro job site owned and operated by Itai Raz of Israel. Instead of carrying on about why the site closed, I added the blurb that was posted on the site by Itai…

Dear Community,

After a couple of years of struggle, trying to make the micro-job world a little better, we regret to admit that we gave up. JobsFor10 has shut its doors, effective immediately.

Our most recent experience, trying to open the marketplace to all members of the community for free, and removing any fees from the transactions, resulted in a Paypal shutting us down completely. It took us a few weeks, to get back on our feet, but at this point we realized, the commercial forces in the market will not let us go forward with our plan to open up our platform. And so, we’re giving up. The world doesn’t need another fiverr, and if we’re not able to make our platform better and cheaper, then we need to move on and find other things to do.

We apologize for the lack of notice. This has to do with our hosting service also going down.
If you need anything from us, please email us at shutdown@jobsfor10.com.

Otherwise, we wish everyone all the best, we thank you for your continued support, and we will see you again in other ventures.

GigMe5.com

Link: www.GigMe5.com and today is December 9, 2012 and it is 16:35 MST

For a long time this micro job site was reliable. Lately though, I’ve been unable to log into my account. The 3 gigs I have offered through this site are live, so I know the account is not suspended or anything. I have repeatedly tried to change the password and even though I receive the emailed link to make the change, the log in still doesn’t work using the new password.

Three times I attempted to use the support reply form. Twice my submitted support request went through but was ignored. Now I find the support request form isn’t working either. I get bounced back to the form with a message stating the message wasn’t able to be sent. Since the owner of the website is using a service to hide ownership of the domain, a sign any online service isn’t to be trusted, there is nothing I can do but abandon the account.

My account is not suspended, and the gigs are live as I said. My last support attempt was to ask that the account be close so I do not have to deal with sales or attempts by potential buyers to communicate. I don’t hold much hope that support request will be addressed though, since none of the others were.  If someone involved in the operation ever does respond this information will be updated.

On the upside, there are now hundreds of micro job sites for both buyers and sellers to choose from. I’ll be going elsewhere, and based on my own experience with this micro job site, I can not recommend GigMe5.

If readers have different or similar experiences with the micro job sites I mention here please let me know. Thanks!
